Industry Segments: Technology Development

Adventus Energy develops technologies for the gasification and refinery industries. Hydrogen sulfide is produced as waste stream in both gasification and refinery processes. Our efforts in this area focus on recovery of hydrogen and sulfur separately and using the hydrogen recovered either as a feedstock or a fuel. Most of the hydrogen produced globally is used in the desulfurization of crude oil. This is particularly important for utilization of high-sulfur crudes and production of low-sulfur diesel.

In gasification, measurement of the gasifier hot-face temperature is a daunting task. In both gasification and refinery processes, selenocyanate selenium can be found in the process water and it is difficult to remove. Adventus Energy will develop niche technologies within these focus areas and assist in providing solutions to the gasification and refinery industries.

Our technology development focus includes:

  • Recovery of H2 and S from H2S
  • Selenium mitigation in gasification and refinery process water
  • Gasifier hotface temperature measurement
